How many floors can a Smartrise lift serve?
Our commercial elevators, built with KOYO, serve buildings up to 64 stories. Our residential home lifts, built with SwiftLifts, serve up to 6 stories. If your building sits somewhere between a tall home and a low tower, we will tell you which of the two actually suits it rather than defaulting to one.
Does a home lift still work during a power cut?
Yes. SwiftLifts home lifts run on an EcoDrive battery pack that recharges as the car travels downward, so the lift keeps working through a mains outage instead of stranding anyone. That battery is also why the lift draws roughly 900W in normal use — less than a typical microwave.
What does it cost to run and maintain a home lift in Tanzania?
A SwiftLifts home lift draws around 900W, so day-to-day running cost is modest. Servicing is roughly $100 every six months. Installation cost depends on your building — floors served, shaft or hoistway condition, and finish — so we quote each site individually after a free survey.
Can a lift be installed in a building that already exists?
Yes. Home lifts in particular are designed to retrofit into existing houses without major structural work, which is usually the main worry. The honest answer for any specific building comes from a site survey — we look at available space, floor structure and power supply before committing to an approach.
Which countries does Smartrise serve?
Our base is Azikiwe Street, Dar es Salaam, and we actively work across mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar — including four KOYO elevators being installed in Zanzibar right now. We also take on projects in Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo, quoting and mobilising surveys, installations and maintenance teams from Dar es Salaam.
Do you supply the lift AND the smart automation together?
Yes — that is what makes us different in the region. Most competitors do lifts OR automation; we deliver KOYO commercial elevators, SwiftLifts home lifts, PIERRE smart building automation, WiFi networking and IoT monitoring as one contract, one team and one app, so the lift, lighting, access and security all work together from day one.
How long does an elevator installation take?
It depends on the building, honestly. A residential home lift is typically installed in days once the shaft or hoistway is ready; a commercial elevator runs longer and follows the building programme, from civil works through commissioning. After a free site survey we give you a written timeline alongside the quote — and you can track progress in the customer portal.
Is Smartrise CRB certified?
Yes. Smartrise is registered with Tanzania's Contractors Registration Board and operates as a service of AI Innovations Limited. Every product we install carries a manufacturer warranty, and SwiftLifts home lifts specifically carry a 10-year warranty.
What is an Annual Maintenance Contract, and do I need one?
An AMC is a scheduled servicing agreement — quarterly, bi-annual or annual — that keeps your lift or automation system inspected and adjusted before small faults become breakdowns. It is optional, but for a lift in daily use it is usually cheaper than paying for emergency call-outs.
Will you service a lift that another company installed?
Yes. We take on maintenance contracts for equipment we did not originally install, including systems from other manufacturers. Tell us the brand and roughly how old it is when you request a quote, and we will confirm what we can cover before anyone commits.
Can I rent a lift instead of buying one outright?
Yes. Alongside outright purchase, we rent lifts on fixed terms — which suits developers, temporary sites, and anyone who would rather spread the cost than pay upfront. On a rental, maintenance stays our responsibility rather than yours.
What can Smartrise automate besides the lift?
Using PIERRE, we connect lighting, heating and cooling, HVAC, access control and smart locks, security cameras, sensors, irrigation, solar-panel cleaning robots, swimming pool and spa systems, and voice control — all from one app, alongside the lift call. Processing runs on-device, so it keeps working without internet.
Where does Smartrise work?
We are based on Azikiwe Street in Dar es Salaam, at Elite Tower next to Mavuno House, and we work across mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar. We currently have a KOYO elevator installation in progress in Zanzibar. Tell us your location when you get in touch and we will confirm coverage and timing.
Does Smartrise install lifts in Zanzibar?
Yes. We are installing four KOYO elevators in Zanzibar right now, so the team and logistics for island projects are already running. If you have a building in Zanzibar, get in touch and we will arrange a site survey alongside the work already scheduled there.
Can I see a lift before I buy one?
Yes. Our showroom is on Azikiwe Street in Dar es Salaam, at Elite Tower next to Mavuno House, and you are welcome to walk in during business hours. Seeing the finishes, controls and cabin sizes in person usually settles decisions faster than any brochure.
